A website and local SEO foundation for a Torquay carpenter ready to grow
Nixon Carpentry is a one-man trade business run by Ollie Nixon, a carpenter based in Torquay specialising in fencing, decking, feature walls and interior finishing. His reputation was built entirely on word of mouth and the occasional Facebook post – good enough to keep him busy, but not a reliable or scalable way to bring in new work.
When Ollie decided to take his marketing more seriously, the starting point was simple: get him a proper online presence that could work for him in the background while he got on with the job.
This project covered website design, SEO and Google Business Profile setup.
The Project
Plenty of happy customers. No real way for new ones to find him.
- No website – just a Facebook page with sporadic posts and no clear strategy
- Nothing showing up in local search when someone looked for a carpenter in Torquay

What I Did
The brief was to build something clean, effective and credible – a site that reflected the quality of Ollie’s work and made it easy for local homeowners to get in touch.
Website design focused on simplicity and trust: clear services, genuine customer reviews, a strong voice and a straightforward route to enquiry.
Local SEO was built in from the ground up – structured around search terms people in Torquay and Torbay actually use when they’re looking for a carpenter, with a Google Business Profile and backlink strategy to support it.
The Results
The site has been live for less than a month and is already climbing the rankings for local search terms – with organic performance building steadily as the SEO strategy develops.
We’re looking forward to see where this takes us on the journey to become one of the best known carpenters in the bay!
